Music

Howdy y’all! I‘m currently squealing, and I hope you know why- Exodus was released on Friday!! I can’t believe I’m officially an author today. I hope you all get the chance to read and enjoy the book- I had a blast writing it, and I’m thrilled that it’s finally out! In honor of release, I thought I’d tell you a little about my taste in music. I have a bit of an addiction, and I tend to do most everything while listening to music, including writing! So here are some of my favorite music genres and artists, and if you’re a writer who loves listening to music, you may want to try some of these ideas as you work on your own projects!

1. Classic (and punk) Rock

This is sort of my go to. My dad got me into older rock, and now I live for edgy vocals and a good guitar solo. Exodus incorporates this- Clo may or may not share most of my taste in music. Some go to artists/fav songs:

Journey- Don’t Stop Believin’, Faithfully, Seperate Ways (Worlds Apart)

Bon Jovi- Runaway, It’s My Life, Livin’ On A Prayer

The Eagles- Desperado, Hotel California

Poison- Every Rose Has It’s Thorn

And many, many more.

2. Electronic/Dance

A friend actually got me into this genre (if you’re reading this, hi Clara!). She’s a big fan of Alan Walker and recommended some songs in relation to my story. Turns out, these tracks make great background music for writing, since a lot of them don’t have words. And when they do have lyrics, they’re absolute bops.

Alan Walker- Alone, Aviator’s Theme, On My Way, Diamond Heart

TheFatRat ft. Laura Brehm- Mayday

Cash Cash- How to Love

3. 2000s

Here’s where my inner punk comes out. 90s/2000s music is my guilty pleasure. Also partly due to my dad, I seriously can’t get enough of this stuff. It’s the reason I recently took up the guitar.

Adam Lambert- If I Had You, Whaddya Want From Me, Never Close Our Eyes

Green Day- Holiday, American Idiot, Wake Me Up When September Ends

Avril Lavigne- My Happy Ending, Sk8r Boi, I‘m Witn You

Michelle Branch- Everywhere

Ricky Martin- Livin’ La Vida Loca

4. Alternative/Alt Rock

Again, guilty pleasure. I also find a lot of my friends have started to gravitate toward Alt, so this is probably the closest to my standard genre.

All Time Low- Monsters

Panic! At the Disco- Death of a Bachelor, Saturday Night

Fall Out Boy- Light ‘em Up, Centuries, Immortals

And so much more.

It‘s really hard to encompass all of my favorite music in a blog post. There’s such a mixed bag, I haven’t even mentioned the selection of country songs that I can stand (Pro tip: look up Cody Jinks). But it’s been fun; I hope you’ve learned a little about me, and maybe if you haven’t heard of some of these, you’ll be inspired to check them out and find something you love!

That’s all for today, guys. Exodus is out now! Don’t forget to check it out, read, and leave a review on Amazon/Goodreads. Or Barnes & Noble. It’s there too! Meanwhile, I hope you have a great week, and fly safe, y’all!
